    We sang about oak leaves like this when I was in school. I’ve tried for years to find information about the song, and can’t, even though I remember the lyrics and the tune. Your photo brought it to mind — I guess I’ll make another run at finding it!

        I can give you the first verse:

        “Dry brown oak leaves shimmer in the woodland/Not a bud or flower is seen.
        But instead of them, beaming merrily,
        shines the holly both red and green.”

        I’ve never considered the thought that my chorus teacher might have written our song. That could explain why I can’t find it online.
