The photo surprised me after reading your title. When I was growing up, an “alley” was a very narrow strip that ran between rows of houses. Then I remembered the French word allée. When I looked that up, I found the dictionary defined allée as a walkway lined with trees or tall shrubs: exactly right for your photo! I’ve learned something!
