    Your pretty chestnut buds brought to mind the Longfellow poem that begins, “Under a spreading chestnut-tree
    The village smithy stands;
    The smith, a mighty man is he,
    With large and sinewy hands;
    And the muscles of his brawny arms
    Are strong as iron bands…”

    It was one of the poems we memorized in school. You can find the entire poem here.

      Thank you very much. We also had a lot of chestnuts in Lviv. I don’t know why, but here in Boston they’re not as common. I managed to find only a few chestnuts here.
